To the Members of the Jamaica Race Drivers Club:
As you may now be aware , our President Hilary Jardine has taken the decision to retire from the position of leader of the Jamaica Race Drivers Club. Mr. Jardine has in one capacity or another served Motorsport for the last five decades, and has decided that the time has come to step down and pass the baton on.
After some discussion with the other Executive members of the Club, I was asked to assume, and accept the post of President. I have accepted the post of President, and will, with the help of the other Executives, and indeed all the members of the club, seek to continue and build on the achievements of the Club to date. While it is true that the JRDC has accomplished a lot in the past few years under the leadership of Mr. Jardine, there is indeed much work to be done.
Whilst the Club will be holding it’s Annual General Meeting in January of 2012, elections for new officers will not be due until January 2013. I will hold the office of President until such time. The members of the club will then have the opportunity to nominate and elect a new President, should they so wish.
Although Mr. Jardine will be stepping aside, we are sure that he will continue to make a contribution to the growth and development of motorsport. It would be appropriate at this time, to recognize the years of service, sacrifice and achievement Mr. Jardine has devoted to the JRDC. It is with heartfelt thanks that we say goodbye to his tenure as President, and wish him all the very best.
Sincerely
Marck Carey
President

Dear Mr. Jardine,
I have received and accepted your letter of resignation with profound regret. While your reasons are clear and understandable it is a great loss to the motor racing community and in particular to the Jamaica Race Drivers Club.
Your leadership of this Club has been a success and a triumph in every way and in every area. You have steered the Club out of debt and into profits and savings never before enjoyed by any administration. This is no small feat considering the difficult economic climate which has seen other sporting clubs fall into decline. With you at the helm the JRDC increased revenues, secured and increased sponsorship and exercised excellent fiscal management to minimize expenses.
It was your vision to revive the Caribbean Motor Racing Championship which has been a huge success in Jamaica as well as in Barbados and Guyana yielding far-reaching benefits such as increased government and sponsor support, increased spectator patronage and elevating the status and recognition of Caribbean racing.
It would be almost impossible to list the numerous improvements to the track and venue which have been implemented during your tenure. Most notable include: the new pedestrian bridge, increased seating area for patrons from stands, fencing of spectator areas, road improvement, expansion of parking area, bathroom renovation, establishment of the food court, live streaming, paddock construction, and countless other improvements.
Through your tireless efforts with the media, you have brought Dover Raceway to the forefront of sport coverage competing even with the most established sports. You have consistently advocated for the advancement of motor racing, promoted the competitors and effectively overseen the growth of circuit racing in Jamaica from a fledgling hobby with a handful of participants into a major sport with over 100 competitors; from a few hundred spectators to nearly ten thousand.
As you often note, the results of the past few years have been the product of an excellent team effort. Your executive committee has been of the highest caliber and in my opinion this is a reflection of the quality of the leadership and of the motivation, encouragement and guidance you provided. A good leader will attract good persons to work with him and that is exactly what happened at the JRDC.
It was indeed a pleasure and a privilege to have been part of the JRDC executive with you as President Mr. Jardine and I am proud to be able to say that I was part of the team that brought motor racing to its current levels of achievement under your direction.
I wish you all the best for the future and know that although you have officially retired, you will continue to devote yourself to motor racing in Jamaica and your influence and legacy will continue for generations.
Yours truly,
JAMAICA RACE DRIVERS CLUB
